FAQ

Caring for Your Unframed Cotton Rag Print

Your cotton rag print is made of archival materials that will last a lifetime. However still, very fragile, please do NOT handle your unframed print, upon opening, please do so with your local professional framer. Your prints are not meant to be stored in a tube for extended periods of time. We advise your framer to dry-mount the work on acid-free board using archival materials for the absolute best presentation of the works.

What is a Cotton Rag Print?

Prints are archival, plant based, museum quality printed on a beautifully etched cotton rag paper. Think, watercolor paper. Designed for a long life and a very minimal footprint on the planet, yet, a visual impact on the world. These are exquisite collectors pieces, also offered in prestigious galleries and seen in a variety of museums. We work closely with the finest of printers in the Los Angeles area. The detail, the emotion and the beauty of these iconic animals infused in every print.

What is Metal Sublimation?

Infused dyes into several layers of proprietary coating. This gives the image a new sense of three dimensionality, enhances image durability and quality. Using pre-treated recycled aluminum, sublimation provides unparalleled depth, clarity and vividness to the work. Gloss, Semi and Matte finishes are available. We prefer the Semi-gloss. These pieces also require a custom crate to be built in for safety during shipping. (Metal Sublimations largest available size is 48 x 72)

What is a Museum Plexiglass piece?

The most stunning of production options is the flush mounted Plexiglass. An archival metallic chromogenic print is flush mounted between a durable core of UV protected plexiglass with a gloss finish. This piece floats off the wall about an inch and a half due to a special hanging system known as a French Cleat. These works require a custom crate to be built for the safest of journey during shipping. The iridescent, rich quality of the print and clean presentation of the plexiglass with no frame is a contemporary look and feel, juxtaposed to the raw and wild nature of these majestic creatures. Regular plexiglass does have a high gloss, glare to it and should be considered depending on where your places in the room. Non-Glare available upon request.

Do you have non reflective Plexiglass?

Yes. It is a non glare surface and we recommend this option if the piece will hang in areas of high or large amounts of light. Or, if you just don’t like glared surfaces in your art collections. Non-glare does have an additional charge due to it being a special order.

What is an Open Edition?

An open edition is a print produced with no preset limit to the number of copies that may be made. They are signed, not numbered. They will arrive with a Certificate of Authenticity, just no edition number included. Sizes are the full size of the print, including a one inch border around the image. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipping. Prints will be carefully rolled in shipping tubes. Like our wild horses, these prints are Made in the USA.

What is a Limited Edition?

A limited edition is a limited run of artwork that Kimerlee has signed and numbered, these works are valued in collections of art around the world. Each comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Prices graduate as the edition sells out, the price increases. Once an edition sells out, it is closed and will no longer be available.

How does Limited Edition pricing work?

As the editions sell out for each piece in the edition size, the fewer pieces are available, the price then goes up on that image. The current prices are listed on the website. Please contact us to see where a particular edition is currently sitting at gallery@kimerleecuryl.com
